HOW IT WORKS:

First, we find the ideal spot for the tableau. Together, we figure out where each person will sit (or stand or jump or...!). Perhaps we rearrange the furniture a bit, adjust lamps, tidy messes… or maybe the space is perfect as it is. 

 

Then I light the tableau using soft, flattering lights, accentuating the existing light and giving it a cinematic look. 

 

This is where my experience as a film director comes in. Many people, myself included, feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. My specialty is helping you relax and feel comfortable and have fun, so your true personality can shine through. ​

 

Then, I create the portrait by taking many, many shots, all from one camera position. This means everyone can be all together or we can do individuals one at a time, making it easier to capture the magic of children and pets quickly and painlessly. Also, there's no pressure to get everyone's best take all in one shot.

In addition to this being a work of art, I want it to be a fun, creative, memorable experience for everyone involved!

 

Afterwards, in Photoshop, I composite together the best take of each person (or pet), digitally painting the subjects/light/space to seamlessly create a perfect moment that is real but also enhanced. 

 

The final result is a masterful composite that evokes the look of a classic painted portrait and captures the unique essence of your personality and your home.
